There are few things more important to your wellbeing than the food you eat.
The nutrition we provide our body is the fuel that determines how we function both physically and mentally. Eating well can help you maintain a healthy weight, improve your mindset, fortify your immune system, and regulate important hormones.
So what is eating well? Which diet should you follow?
If we take an evolutionary biology perspective, the answer is pretty simple. Just eat real food.
Eat the things that our bodies have evolved to eat:
- Vegetables
- Meats
- Fruit
- Tubers
- Nuts
- Seeds
- Herbs/Spices
- Oils
And avoid the things that are just food-like products:
- Soft Drinks
- Processed Grains
- Many dairy/cheese products
- Artificial sweeteners
- Sugar and Corn Syrups
Eating simple is that easy. Just eat food, that is actually food!
I go into more detail in my post “how to eat simply.” But use these easy guidelines to help: shop around the outside of the grocery store, avoid food that comes in a box, and the less ingredients the better.

So true! Do you have any recipes or recipe websites you could share? I find it easy to buy “real food” but then unsure of what to make with it once I get home. I enjoy a good salad, but not for every meal 🙂

That’s a good question… I’m honestly not one for a super fancy recipe.
I usually go for some type of meat (usually fish, chicken, or beef), and a side of veggies. I let oils and spices do all of the magic.
For inspiration though, I like Michael Pollan. He has some recipes on his website, as well general cooking principles.
